Indian Govt to Auction 4G Spectrum By The End Of This Year: Sibal

India is looking for establishing herself in the business of 4th generation mobile network by selling 4G spectrum by the end of this year, and is planning to off sell radio waves for 2G spectrum, announced by Union Telecommunication Minister Kapil Sibbal.

“By the end of the year, we are planning to auction 4G (spectrum). That is what our intent is. We have enough spectrums now to share with everybody,” he said here at the India Day function organized by his Ministry at the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona.

The minister further said that, government will auction 2G spectrum as well which will be vacated by the cancellation of 122 2G licenses following the new Supreme Court order. “We will auction spectrum. When that auction will take place is something that we have to work out. The procedures are laborious, the procedures are complex,” he added.
