Budget 2012: TV, AC, Refrigerator Get Costlier By 2-4%

Prices of LCD TV, LED TV, refrigerator, microwave ovens, air-conditioners, etc. are going to be costly in the upcoming fiscal year by 2-4%. Now the buyers are in tension because those who were planning to buy, they have to buy all these stuffs in higher rates.

In this budget, the excise duty on electronic goods got higher by 2%, earlier it was 10% now it became 12%. Accordingly, now a 1.5 ton 3 star AC will cost Rs. 1000 costlier than before, a 240 liters 5 star frost-free refrigerator will cost Rs. 800 more; a 6kg fully front loaded washing machine will cost Rs. 1200 costlier than before.

This time some changes have been done in the electronic goods getting exported from Japan and Korea. Companies like, LG, Samsung, Panasonic and Videocon, the top LED TV and LCD TV seller are going to increase their price because the export duty gone high. TV producers indicated that the prices of LED TV and LCD TV will be 2-3% higher than earlier.

“Demand will get dampened and we expect the industry growth may again take a hit this year,” said Samsung India deputy MD Ravinder Zutshi. As a result of this, a 32-inch LCD TV will be Rs. 800 costlier than before and a 32-inch LED TV is going to be Rs. 1200 costlier.
