India’s Broadband Base Growing By 24.5%

According to a Broadband Forum study, India observed a growth in broadband users by 24.5% in 2011, one of the fastest across the world. India has estimated to add 2.62 million new broadband users in 2011, whereas its current users are only 13.33 million.

It is also predicted that the nation will hold a position among the top 10 countries in terms of broadband users. Overall, broadband expansion in 2011 was estimated at 65.49 million subscribers, bringing the global total internet users to 597.32 million.

Among the largest broadband users of the world, China was the top position holder in 2011 with 158.19 billion users, while USA and Japan are the 2nd and 3rd in the list with 91.63 million and 36.69 million users respectively.

According to the Broadband Forum CEO Robin Mersh the Internet demand in India is increasing rapidly and with more coverage and competitive pricing, internet has become available to even more users.
