The joint venture of Bharat Forge Ltd. and Alstom, the Alstom Bharat Forge Power Ltd. (ABFPL) has bagged an order worth Rs.1570 crore orders for supply, engineering, manufacturing of super critical steam turbine generators for NTPC’s upcoming power project at Solapur, Maharashtra.
This JV is expected to be commissioned by 2013 with an annual capacity to produce power equipment of 5000 MW in Gujarat. ABFPL was the lowest bidder for NTPC’s bulk tender last year for the supply of supercritical steam turbine equipment.
Besides the Solapur project, as per rules of tender, ABFPL will also get an order for three additional units for the Nabinagar Project from Nabinagar Power Generating Co. Pvt Ltd (NPGCPL), a JV between NTPC and Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB).
ABFPL’s plant in Gujarat is set to become India’s largest private sector for power equipment once completed to address the needs of increasing electricity consumption.
