Piaggio Launches Vespa at Rs.66,661

Vespa has come back for the third time and with a bang; this time being launched by the original maker ‘Piaggio’! Europe’s best selling scooter Vespa LX 125 is now in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 66,661/-. However, this price is about 15-25% higher than those of existing scooters like Activa, Access and Duro.

We have already told you about the New Vespa launch a couple of week back and had provided you with a first hand account of how the new Vespa is different from its older counter parts.

The company’s CMD mentioned that it was important to stay in the competition, especially with increasing scooter market in India. Piaggio is expecting Vespa’s sales to cross 3 lakh units in 3 years; Piaggio sold 1, 50, 00 Vespa units in 2011 globally.

Scooter market is expected to grow at a rate of 20% in the coming years and company is planning for production of Vespa scooters in the newly established plant at Baramati. Engine is modified when compared to other countries’ models; mileage of the vehicle is 60 Kmpl which is 100% more fuel efficient than existing Vespa in Europe!
