BHEL has announced that they were able to get a contract that is priced at Rs 950 crores which is a hydel project in Bhutan. This project is with Punitsangchhu Hydroelectric Project Authority (PHPA). The deal will be for an electro-mechanical equipment package for a 1,020 MW hydro electric project.
The contract involves manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of the electro-mechanical equipment for the project. The company is also lucky enough to be executing another project of 1,200 MW still in Bhutan which is under a bilateral agreement between India and Bhutan.
The project is definitely environment friendly since it runs of the river and was engineered not to cause any damage in the environment. So far, BHEL had banged a lot of hydro projects in Bhutan which just shows the reputation and popularity of the company in their field. They have well protected their name with quality service which is why they are reaping the fruits of their hard work now.
