The race for the post of Chief Economic advisor is being led by Former IMF economist Dr Raghuram G. Rajan. The term of the current Economic Advisor Dr Kaushik Basu will end this coming July 31.
There are government sources that tell Dr. Rajan’s name is being actively considered for the position that will be left vacant soon. But the source did not mentioned if the name of Dr. Rajan was given by the Search Committee which was designated to find the person who will replace Dr. Basu. Rajan is known to be the youngest Economic Counselor and Director of Research at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He was also among the person who had foreseen the economic crises that was experienced on the year 2008. Dr. Rajan is undoubtedly among the best economist in the country today and he being in the position of Chief Economic Advisor would surely give good results to the country.
