An Agreement was made between various stakeholders when it comes to the stand-off between the Indian Institute of Technology Council and IIT Senates. The agreement that was made stresses out that students would be eligible for admission to the elite engineering colleges if their class XII marks would reach the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.
This is to make sure that the only students who could attend the prestigious school are those who really deserve it. The result of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced would now become a basis for admissions to IIT. The better their rank is on the exam, the better chance they would have to get the chance to study in this prestigious school.
Those who will appear in the JEE Advanced examination are those that were able to be among the top 1,50,000 candidates in JEE Mains. This would surely guarantee that the students who will be entering the said school would be those top notched students.
