Budget 2013 – Govt. To Include More Areas In Infrastructure To Boost Growth

With the sole view of boosting up industrial activity and stimulating economic growth in the coming financial year, the government is making up its mind to expand the infrastructure sector definition.

According to sources, though infrastructure definition is included in the Income Tax as well as Direct Taxes Code, the definition may be expanded to add more and more areas leading to economic growth and the decision will also have some revenue implications.

The Financial budget for the year 2013-2014 will be presented in the Lok Sabha by Finance Minister P Chidambaram on February 28.

The Infrastructure sector status must be provided to the areas and sectors on which the country needs to focus on a big way like telecom, education, housing and shipping not only for ensuring industrial development and growth but also for attracting capital from abroad.
