This 73 km long pipeline between Dabhol and Bengaluru will carry 16 million standard cubic meters (mscm) per day and will also initiate CNG supplies to automobiles as well as cooking gas pipelines to the households, said M. Veerappa Moily, the Oil Minister.

Further, ONGC is also planning to set up its liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Karnataka near its Mangalore refinery by the end of February. This project was in pipeline since the last six years.

Industries in Dharwad, Bellary, Belgaum, Gadag, Davanagere, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Bangalore and Ramanagaram, which were earlier burdened by the heavy cost of polluting liquid fuels like diesel and naphtha, will now get some relief from GAIL’s 1,000 km pipeline project. Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts is the first customer who has been supplied gas through pipeline by GAIL.
