India Budget 2013 Expectations From McAfee Software

McAfee Software has put forward a list of four key expectations from Union Budget 2013 – 2014 in India:

  • There is a need for a clear-cut understanding around treating software as goods (subject to VAT) or as service (and subject to service tax).
  • Minimum Alternate Tax levied on SEZs that severely affecting foreign investments in India should be discontinued or reduced drastically as this would lend strategic benefits and ensure continued thrust on investments from companies with a long term focus on India.

  • McAfee would like to support to the government’s UID project and assistance required in the security requirements for the program.
  • Given the rise of sophisticated cyber crime cases that affect both enterprises and consumers, it has now become very important to have an evolved security system in place. McAfee would expect the Union Budget to provide more grants to ensure secure data access for all Indians.
