IRCTC To Revamp Infra; Will Support 7200 Ticket Sales Per Min. Compared To The Current 2000 – Rail Budget 2013

To combat with the problems related to the IRCTC website, Indian Railways will introduce a next generation E-ticketing system by the end of this year said Railway Minister, Pawan Kumar Bansal.



The congestion problems with the IRCTC website in booking e-tickets has forced the Indian Railways to put in place a new hassle free next generation e-ticketing system. This step will surely help to deal with the problems associated with internet rail ticketing and will provide ease of use and better end user experience to the people, said Railway Minister.

As compared to the present ticket booking system which supports booking of 2000 tickets every minute, the new system will support booking of 7200 tickets in one minute. At the same time, the new system will have the capacity to handle 1,20,000 users simultaneously as compared to the present user capacity of 40,000.

He also added that to further control frauds related to e-ticket booking, advanced fraud control and security techniques will soon be introduced in the system.
